The Rota Chamber of Commerce has proudly been recognized for its participation in the Toys for Tots program, receiving a commemorative plaque from the United States Marine Corps based in Guam. This award marks the Chamber’s first year of involvement with the program, an initiative aimed at bringing joy to children during the holiday season.
The Toys for Tots program, founded by the Marine Corps Reserve in 1947, distributes millions of toys to children across the United States each year. In 2023, the Rota Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Rota, enthusiastically joined the program, rallying local businesses and residents to collect and donate new toys for children in the CNMI.
“We’re honored to receive this plaque in recognition of our community’s collective effort,” said Steven McCoy, President of the Rota Chamber of Commerce. “This achievement was made possible by the generosity of the businesses and residents of Rota, whose spirit of giving ensured that local children had a memorable holiday season.”
The Chamber organized multiple collection points across the island, working alongside the Marine Corps, the Mayor’s Office, and local volunteers to ensure the program’s success. The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of toys collected and distributed to children.
This award is a testament to the power of community involvement, reflecting the values of kindness and generosity that define Rota. The Chamber looks forward to continuing its participation in the Toys for Tots program and enhancing its partnership with the Marine Corps in the coming years.
